Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced ‘MADANI Economy: Empowering the People’ as Malaysia’s new economic framework to raise the status and dignity of the country.
The Prime Minister said that the framework will restructure the economy towards making Malaysia an economic leader in the Southeast Asian region, thus providing an abundance of income for the people to enjoy a better quality of life.
“It is about re-raising the status and dignity of this country with two main focuses, which is to restructure the economy towards Malaysia as the leader of the Asian economy, and finally to provide an overflow of income to the people to enjoy a better quality of life.
“This is a comprehensive and thorough plan to face various current challenges including long-term issues related to the country’s competitiveness and attractiveness as an investment destination.
“It also involves current issues that need to be addressed immediately, such as the increase in the cost of living that has impressed the people,” he said in a speech in conjunction with the Launch of the ‘MADANI Economy: Empowering the People’ in Kuala Lumpur, today (July 27).
