Bursa Malaysia Bhd is on track to record 39 initial public offerings (IPO) with total market capitalisation of RM10 billion this year, said chief executive officer (CEO) Datuk Muhamad Umar Swift.
He said, in the second half of 2023 (2H 2023), the exchange operator is expected to welcome seven new listings on the Main Market, one or two in the LEAP Market and about 14 listings on the ACE Market, ranging from various sectors including property, sports retail, and electronics.
“We may exceed our figure, driven by promoters and market sentiment, some of which might accelerate and some might take their time. But we are on target for 39 at this point of time.
“There is approximately 23 companies going through the process, in addition to what has already (been) approved, and going through the process of making submissions,” he told reporters after announcing the company’s second-quarter financial results here, today.
In the first half of the year, a total of 16 new IPO listings were recorded, raising RM6.4 billion in new funds.
