Bursa Malaysia ended Thursday’s (Aug 3) morning session lower with the key index falling by 0.43% due to the absence of catalysts, in line with weaker performance on regional markets and Wall Street impacted by the downgrade of the US credit rating by Fitch.
At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined by 6.16 points to 1,438.40 from 1,444.56 at Wednesday’s close.
The key index opened 3.19 points weaker at 1,441.37 and moved between 1,437.55 and 1,442.78 throughout the session.
On the broader market, losers led gainers 420 to 307, while 410 counters were unchanged, 1,135 untraded and 13 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 1.58 billion units worth RM803.83 million.
