Malaysia Unveils DATA CATALYST, Advancing AgTech for Food Security

The Ministry of Communications and Digital (KKD) through the Malaysian Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) announced the launch of the Digital AgTech CATALIST and welcomed collaboration towards the development of the Digital AgTech Analytics (DATA) platform.

In line with the Malaysia Digital (MD) promoted sector, the DATA CATALYST platform is an initiative that empowers farmers and agribusinesses across the country with advanced technology for real-time insights on productivity and predictive analytics that will address the nation’s food security.

It comes with a wide range of features from precision farming to crop health monitoring, weather forecasting, markets, resource management and farm performance analysis, just at your fingertips.

Through this innovative approach, it enables farmers to make the right decisions and increase productivity while minimizing their environmental footprint. The DATA CATALYST platform is expected to generate productivity from over 500 new Digital AgTech projects deployed and over 60,000 trained farmers across the country.

The event also saw a MoU exchange session with key ecosystem partners, namely the Board of Farmers’ Organizations (LPP), the Department of Agriculture (DOA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Agrobank. This MoU exchange will further strengthen cooperation and pave the way for joint initiatives to accelerate digital transformation.
