Heavyweight Stock Buying Interest Led to Bursa Ending Higher Midday

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning trading session on a positive note on Friday (Aug 4), lifted by buying interest in most heavyweights, led by financial stocks.

At lunch break, the FBM KLCI had strengthened by 3.48 points to 1,445.33, from 1,441.85 at Thursday’s close.

The key index opened 0.64 of a point higher at 1,442.49, and moved between 1,442.23 and 1,446.78 throughout the morning session.

On the broader market, gainers led losers 382 to 307, while 408 counters were unchanged, 1,179 untraded and 26 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 1.63 billion units worth RM658.14 million.
