DBKL Backtracks On Sungai Besi Road Closure

The planned closure of Jalan Sungai Besi towards Sungai Besi and Petaling Jaya in front of Fraser Business Park and Loke Yew roundabout that was to start tomorrow has been postponed, according to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).In a statement today, the City Hall said road users can continue to use the route as usual.

“The media statement dated Aug 1, 2023 by DBKL on the road closure scheduled to run from Aug 5, this year until Aug 4, next year has been cancelled.”

However, DBKL did not specify how long the postponement would be.

According to an earlier statement, KL City Hall said the route would be closed to enable renovation and bridge construction works at the Loke Yew roundabout.

The long closure would have disrupted thousands of road users, but this was raised by Transport Minister Anthony Loke who had said he bring it up with the Prime Minister and would possibly try to avoid the closure if possible.
