The airlines look back on a strong June as passenger traffic grew by 31 percent year-on-year, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) reported in Geneva on Tuesday.
For the first half of the year, global operations were 47.2 percent stronger than in the same period in 2022, it said, reported dpa news agency.
“Globally, traffic is now at 94.2 percent of pre-pandemic levels,” IATA reported. Planes were particularly full in North America and Europe, it said.
Airlines from the Asia-Pacific region were up 128.1 percent in passenger kilometres in June this year compared with June last year.
European airlines were up 14 percent while North American airlines were up 23.3 percent.
