Bursa Malaysia’s Key Index Falls On Weaker Regional Sentiment And Selling

Bursa Malaysia’s benchmark index ended Thursday’s (Aug 17) morning trading session lower, in line with weaker sentiment on regional bourses, on continued selling in selected heavyweights, dealers said.

At lunch break, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined 7.21 points to 1,456.30 from 1,463.51 at Wednesday’s close.

The key index, which opened 2.9 points easier at 1,460.61, moved between 1,455.46 and 1,460.76 throughout the session.

On the broader market, decliners thumped gainers 549 to 290, while 411 counters were unchanged, 1,090 untraded and 16 others suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.73 billion units worth RM1.18 billion.
