ASIC Maintains Strong Presence In Indonesia With New, Green Shipyard Projects With PT DKB

ASIC OFFSHORE & MARINE SDN BHD (ASIC) announced today (August 29) that their MoU with PT DOK DAN PERKAPALAN KODJA BAHARI (PESERO) (PT DKB) has risen to another level with a stronger long term revenue visibility of their short- and long-term projects together.

Continuing the realisation of the MOU signed earlier, His Excellence (H.E.)  Dato’ Syed Md Hasrin Tengku Hussin, Ambassador of Malaysia to the Republic of Indonesia, representatives from State-Owned Operation (BUMN) Office, representatives from PT. Perusahaan Pengelora Aset (PPA) office, representative from Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), representatives of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) Malaysia and other representatives from Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Indonesia did a courtesy visit to PT DKB’s head office, Tanjung Priok in North Jakarta earlier today with the aim to get the latest insight of the partnership between ASIC and PT DKB.

In his opening speech of the courtesy visit event, Ambassador of Malaysia emphasised that the partnership between ASIC and PT DKB has strengthen the bilateral relations between Malaysia and Indonesia asides from increasing trade relations between both countries via the initial MOU that was signed earlier this year. He also added that the Government of Malaysia is always encouraging to have Direct Investment Abroad (DIA) via Malaysian banks and private investors to ensure successful establishment of Malaysian Brand in the global market.

According to the recent announcement made during the event today, ASIC OFFSHORE & MARINE SDN BHD and its local Indonesia company, PT ASIC ENERGI NUSANTARA are equipped with an outstanding order book that will sustain their earnings visibility for the next 2 years via the two-floating docks, new build barges and tugboats projects.

In addition to these projects, ASIC will spearhead the project development of first green technology shipyard in Batam via partnership with PT DKB. A land concessionaire will be given to ASIC for this build, operate and transfer (BOT) project. The Batam green shipyard operation shall be a combined operation between ASIC and PT DKB with a projected gross domestic value (GDV) of RM2billion.

With the combined synergy, both companies managed to plug the gap and able to rely on each other expertise – ASIC that specialized in engineering design, project management and execution coped with PT DKB’s strength being a Badan Usaha Milik Negara (BUMN) to attract other local BUMN vessel owners to adopt this Batam green technology shipyard as their preferred shipbuilding and repairs destination.

Jazli Rahimi, Group Managing Director of ASIC OFFSHORE & MARINE SDN BHD said in his speech during the event, “ASIC strongly confident that the cooperation with PT DKB will further strengthen ASIC’s footprint particularly in Indonesia. The projects that ASIC bags are aligned with the pillar of Malaysia Madani which will be able to create over 1000 new jobs employment for both Malaysia and Indonesia countries including the young fresh graduates, providing more than RM250 million of Malaysian vendor export opportunities from potential Malaysian as well as investment opportunities for Malaysian banks and investors from this project and development of area surrounding Batam, Indonesia.” He further added “These high-profile projects shall also strengthen the ties and interest between Malaysia and Indonesia.”

Ari Rochmat Basuki, Group Managing Director of PT DOK DAN PERKAPALAN KODJA BAHARI (PESERO) added in his opening speech that the MOU collaboration shall strengthen their commitment towards providing a dynamic total solution to the market as PT DKB vision to create a one-stop-shop for their shipyards in Indonesia to simplify the shipbuilding ecosystem and bringing their expertise to the global market, with the aim of becoming an international shipbuilder in the world.  He added “I am confident that our partnership with ASIC will create a unique synergy that will give us even greater ability to shall enhance our strong brand image and serve the economic growth in Indonesia, Malaysia and worldwide.’’
