Bursa Morning Trading Session Ends Lower on Profit-Taking and Regional Weakness

Bursa Malaysia ended the morning trading session easier on Tuesday (Sept 5), driven by profit-taking in selected heavyweight stocks and in tandem with the weaker sentiment in regional markets, dealers said.

At 12.30pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) declined 5.38 points to 1,457.34, from 1,462.72 at Monday’s close. The key index, which opened 0.14 of a point easier at 1,462.58, moved between 1,455.05 and 1,462.58 throughout the session.

The broader market was negative, with decliners surpassing advancers 618 to 260, while 385 counters were unchanged, 1,036 untraded and seven others suspended.

Turnover stood at 2.47 billion units, worth RM1.22 billion.
