Elmina Crash: No Evidence Of Incapacitation Or Physiological Factors That Affected The Flight Crew Performance – AAIB (Updated)

The preliminary report of the Beechcraft Premier 1 plane crash that killed 10 people in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, on August 17, found that the plane’s pilot had a license and was qualified to fly according to existing regulations.

The preliminary report issued by the Ministry of Transport (MOT) this morning (sept 15) also found that the incident occurred during the day with clear visibility and good meteorological conditions.

Additionally, the findings found no evidence of disability or physiological factors affecting flight crew performance.

The report also stated that accidents and casualties could not be avoided due to the magnitude of the deceleration force and post-accident fires.

MOT said additional findings will be attached in the final report which will be completed by August next year.

“It is in line with the International Civil Aviation Convention (ICAO) Annex 13 which allocates a period of 12 months from the accident to complete the document,” the Ministry said.

According to the report, preliminary analysis of the recovered cockpit voice recorder (CVR) box provides critical clues to uncovering the cause of the accident, with a focus on the aircraft’s flight control system.

“The results of the inspection of relevant aircraft parts and components at the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) laboratories are required to provide collaborative and conclusive evidence in determining the cause of the accident,” it added.

In the incident at 2.50pm, 10 individuals were confirmed dead after a Beechcraft Premier 1 aircraft crashed near the residential area of ​​Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam.

Eight of the individuals involved were passengers, in addition to two flight crew, a car driver and a motorcyclist who were passing through the area when the plane crashed.

The tragedy also killed Pahang Government Exco who is also a member of the Pelangai State Legislative Assembly, Datuk Seri Johari Harun.
