IGEM 2023: Driving Sustainable Solutions, Partnerships for A Greener Future

The International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition & Conference Malaysia (IGEM) 2023 will host over 10 conferences from October 4 to 6 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on high-impact topics such low-carbon cities, hydrogen economy, waste management, circular economy, water conservation, energy efficiency and more, all aligned to the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals.

Key conferences include the AtoZero ASEAN Summit, the 1st National Conference on Energy Efficiency, Malaysia Carbon Market Forum 2023, Green Logistics Partnership Conference 2023: Driving Sustainability in Transport & Logistics, Driving Canadian-Malaysian Partnerships in Clean Energy & Sustainability and the Symposium on Environment Quality Act 1974, to name just a few.

IGEM 2023, organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change (NRECC) and co-organised by the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), is themed Race Towards Net Zero: Leadership for Climate Action with the conferences being led and participated by top representatives from companies including Business Finland, Business Sweden, Akademi Sains Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia as well as eminent dignitaries from countries such as Sweden, Austria and Canada.

The Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change, YB Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said, “IGEM consistently continues to bring together the brightest minds in green technology and climate change. Given the urgency of taking leadership in climate action, this year’s conferences have been curated to specifically address the region’s focus on fast-growing sectors such as electric mobility and energy transition.”

“Offering insightful presentations and panel discussions on pertinent and pressing topics, IGEM 2023’s conferences will convene thousands of international and Malaysian experts from across the related fields to shape and inspire impactful global green thinking and action,” he added. 

One of the much-awaited conferences will be Green Logistics Partnership Conference (GLPC), which is a collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation (MoT) and the ASEAN-Japan Transport Partnership (AJTP), providing a platform to share best practices to improve green logistics practices in the country.

Themed Driving Sustainability in Transport & Logistics, GLPC will be jointly organised by the MoT, NRECC, MGTC and Business Sweden, with support from technical partners i.e., the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research and VOLVO.

The central attraction of IGEM, the exhibition floor, will be laid out this year based on the sub-themes of Empowering Cities, Electrifying Mobility, Decarbonising Energy, Accelerating Circularity and Conserving Biodiversity. Some international participants include Arctech Solar (China), Phoenix Green Energy (Austria), International Science Council (France), and Saxon Renewable Pte Ltd (Singapore). 

To add further momentum to the green economy, IGEM 2023 will feature the much-in-demand business networking sessions organised by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) and MGTC.
