Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and the Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) have joined forces through a MoU, highlighting the commitment of MDEC and Austrade to strengthening the longstanding diplomatic and commercial relations between Malaysia and Australia.
Commemorating the MOU, MDEC conducted a multifaceted mission to Australia, participating in the Global Entrepreneurship Congress in Melbourne along with productive business meetings in both Melbourne and Sydney supported by key partners such as MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation) and MIDA (Malaysian Investment Development Authority).
This consequential business mission further cements the collaborative efforts between the two nations. The delegation included several prominent Malaysian tech companies, with MDEC expecting to generate RM100 million in digital export opportunities.
The MDEC-Austrade partnership is not only a testament to the strong bilateral relationship between Malaysia and Australia but also holds great promise for the entire ASEAN region and Australia. This collaboration will foster economic growth, drive innovation, and create countless opportunities for businesses and individuals alike.
Under its newly launched “Invested: Australia’s Southeast Asia Economic Strategy to 2040”, Australia has identified four key sectors to further deepen economic cooperation with Malaysia. Agriculture and food, resources, education and skills, and the digital economy are the priorities for Australia’s partnership with Malaysia, effectively aligning with MDEC-Austrade’s pioneering work to develop the tech ecosystem.
