Water supply in various parts of the Klang Valley, which faced unscheduled disruption caused by odour pollution in Sungai Selangor yesterday, is expected to be fully restored by midnight.
According to Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor), the status of water supply restoration to affected areas across the state has reached 67 percent as of 6am today.
“The water supply is expected to be fully restored by 12am, October 12 (Thursday),” it said in a statement.
Air Selangor also advised consumers to let their taps run until the water is clear prior to usage.
“We hope users who have had their supply restored will use water prudently to ensure the recovery process in areas still affected by the disruption runs smoothly,” it said.
The unscheduled water supply disruption has affected various parts of the Klang Valley, including Shah Alam, Petaling, Gombak, Kuala Lumpur, Hulu Selangor and Kuala Selangor.
Air Selangor acting chief executive officer Abas Abdullah had said in a statement yesterday, that odour pollution in Sungai Selangor had forced a temporary shutdown of four water treatment plants (WTP), namely the Sungai Selangor Phase 1, 2 and 3, as well as the Rantau Panjang WTPs.
Operations at all the affected facilities later resumed as of 4am yesterday morning, with water being restored in stages.
