Sunway TES, ICAEW Partnership Prospers

The outstanding partnership between Sunway TES Malaysia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) has recently been successfully renewed, much to the delight of both international partners and those scholars benefitting from this unique and rewarding partnership.

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ICAEW UK, Michael Izza was recently invited over to Sunway campus to attend the collaboration agreement signing ceremony. In addition to the renewal of the existing partnership agreement with ICAEW, the ceremony also marked the start of the partnership with Sunway TES Iskandar College, for five years.

Michael Izza, added “ICAEW qualifications help position people as strategic leaders on some of the most fundamental issues facing our world including sustainability, trust, and digital transformation.”

“ICAEW chartered accountants are the strategic leaders, and trusted advisors, that will help businesses to thrive, as they guide them in tackling global issues and making the most of opportunities, such as technological advances and the contributions they make to developments in ESG,” he added.

Also featured within the ceremonial occasion, Sunway TES held the ICAEW Global Accountant Scholarship Award presentation with Sunway TES recording a total of 854 scholarship recipients since the beginning of the collaboration in 2013. 327 scholars have graduated as chartered accountants through this scholarship, with 80% of the scholars working at Big 5 accounting firms. To date, Sunway TES has waived a remarkable RM34 million in tuition fees for this scholarship.

This year, a total of 69 recipients were awarded with the scholarship and the success of the partnership continues to shine on a global scale through its students’ ongoing success.

Three Sunway TES’ students were recognised for their astounding achievements: Tan Yi Xuan, who is a two-time ICAEW World Prize winner, Queenie Chan, who won the ICAEW World Prize three times, and Mandy Lai, who secured the prestigious award four times.
