MRC ComMATCH 2023 Makes A Comeback With New Opportunities

MRC Commercialization Match (ComMATCH) 2023 event organised by the Malaysian Rubber Council (MRC) makes a comeback by joining the Selangor R&D and Innovation Expo (SRIE) 2023 as a strategic partner and exhibitor at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 19 to 22 October 2023.

With a task to promote high-quality Malaysian rubber and rubber products globally, MRC’s ComMATCH is an initiative with the primary objective of encouraging the uptake of rubber-related technologies among domestic industry players and pushing more new rubber technologies and products into the markets.

During ComMATCH 2023, MRC launched three new initiatives – the MRC Commercialization Fund (MCF), MRC Commercialization Booklet, and the MRC Commercialization Online Matching Platform which was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Haji Mad Zaidi Bin Mohd Karli, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Plantation and Commodities (MPC).

“It is imperative that we encourage innovation and investment in other rubber- based products. In the 12th Malaysia Plan, innovation has been outlined as a key enabler in economic growth. With every 1 per cent increase in innovation capacity – especially when it is translated to commercialisation, it could increase a country’s GDP per capita by 0.36 per cent”, said YBhg. Dato’ Haji Mad Zaidi.

YBhg. Dato’ Sri Mohamad Suparadi bin MD Noor, Chairman of MRC, stated that this event is an excellent opportunity to discuss an essential aspect of our industry, namely the significance of commercialisation in the Malaysian rubber industry and how it can be utilised to its fullest extent.

“ComMATCH 2023 is a significant event offering a platform for rubber and non- rubber players to explore available rubber-related technologies, experts, facilities, and funding for their current commercialisation journey or future endeavor. I also believe that product launches and sharing sessions happening at ComMATCH 2023 here will pique the interest of those who are in or just started to venture into technology-based product commercialisation”, he added.

Besides the launches, MRC also exchanged Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with two (2) entities, which were with MyBIG Sdn. Bhd. to deploy automated rubber tapping solutions and other relevant technologies at selected Malaysian rubber plantations, as well as with a Malaysian-owned international partner, known as Malaysian Eco Rubber Co. UK Ltd. (MERCU) for new rubber ventures in the European and Middle East Markets.

MRC also organised 10 mini-exhibitions within the MRC Pavillion that consisted of database contributors from universities and research institutes to showcase their Intellectual Properties (IPs), experts, facilities, and services related to rubber.
