NetApp, a global frontrunner in cloud-led, data-centric software, has unveiled significant updates to its singular unified data storage solution.
Its Area Vice President (Greater China, ASEAN and South Korea) Fredy Cheung said that this solution is poised to offer unmatched savings and sustainability, with improvements to public cloud storage services and NetApp Keystone Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS).
“These enhancements are designed to ensure customers experience ease, savings, security and sustainability,” added Cheung (pic above).
Over two decades ago, NetApp pioneered the concept of unified storage. The vision has since expanded to an all-encompassing architecture, integrating file, block and object workloads. This system is said to operate seamlessly across multiple on-premises storage offerings and every major public cloud. It harmonises with Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP, Microsoft Azure NetApp Files, and the recently introduced Google Cloud NetApp Volumes.

In a move to better serve its vast clientele, NetApp showcased the All-Flash SAN Array (ASA) at INSIGHT 2023, held recently in Las Vegas, the United States.
This unveiling introduced the NetApp ASA C-Series, boasting industry-leading storage efficiency and unprecedented data availability guarantees. Designed with the challenges of modern businesses in mind, the ASA C-Series is optimised for platforms such as VMware vSphere, SAP, Oracle and Microsoft SQL. Furthermore, this solution offers formidable protection against cyber threats, making it an attractive proposition for businesses globally.
Sandeep Singh, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Storage at NetApp, highlighted how the company’s latest offering redefines block storage, merging unparalleled ASA storage capabilities with capacity flash, thus setting a new benchmark for enterprise-grade block storage.
Recognising the challenges businesses face in transitioning to new storage solutions, NetApp is offering a slew of complimentary services. These include an up-front solution design assessment, free data migration, three months of NetApp storage support during the migration period and specialised training workshops, ensuring a smooth transition for all clients.
On the cloud-native storage front, there have been several notable updates. Google Cloud NetApp Volumes, introduced in August 2023, has been enhanced with new features. Meanwhile, Amazon FSx for NetApp ONTAP and Microsoft Azure NetApp Files have undergone significant improvements to ensure enhanced cost savings and performance.
Further enriching their portfolio, NetApp announced collaborative efforts with Equinix earlier this month. The collaboration focuses on NetApp Storage on Equinix Metal, powered by NetApp Keystone. Moreover, Keystone’s STaaS has received substantial enhancements, including performance, availability and sustainability guarantees.
IDC’s Ashish Nadkarni applauded NetApp’s unwavering drive to innovate across the enterprise and public cloud sectors. He recognised the growing customer demand for straightforward, cost-effective, and environmentally conscious storage solutions, positioning the new NetApp ASA C-Series as an outstanding option for enterprises globally.
