MyAirline Case Linked i-Serve Lawyer Released

A lawyer for an investment company believed to be linked to the co-founder of low-cost airline MYAirline was released on police bail last Friday. This was relayed by Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf who said the 62-year-old man was released at 9pm at the Pudu Police Station.

On Oct 27, four individuals, including the lawyer, were detained on Thursday to assist in the investigation into the case of investment company i-Serve and believed to be linked to the co-founder of low-cost airline MYAirline, where each of them was remanded for up to four days. He said all the suspects worked at the i-Serve holding positions of financial assistants, research and development (R&D) managers, lawyers and shareholders.

The MyAilrline saga is turning out to be more than just a case of a company with financial problems to a more sinister case of fraud, money laundering, and corruption. On 17 Oct, the police arrested the company’s co-founder and shareholder as well as his wife and son, to assist in the investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing Act.
