The embroiled MSM Malaysia Chief Financial Officer, Dr Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar who is on garden leave with effect from Oct 20, 2023, pending an internal investigation could be terminated upon completion of the case.
BusinessToday contacted MSM after the news went viral on the platform with many readers inquiring about the case, MSM said the case has been overblown as there is no big issue but more of an HR matter. However, when we probed further on why she was being investigated, MSM refused to divulge further.
The group’s parent company FGV has been known to often place its top management on garden leave or leave of absence when its CEO was under investigation back in 2017.
Dr Mazatul was appointed in December 2022 and holds a Doctorate in Islamic Banking & International Economics from University Of East London (UEL), U.K.
Before joining MSM she was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Proton Holdings Berhad prior to the merger with Zhejiang Geely Group. Previously, she was the Chief Financial Officer for Nationwide Express Courier Services Berhad
