Malaysia Airlines Successfully Restores Full In-Flight Services

Malaysia Airlines Bhd has successfully reinstated its complete in-flight service offerings across all flight sectors following the commencement of its catering transition on September 1.

The resumption of full in-flight offerings became possible with the deployment of the remaining 10 hi-lift trucks, which became operational at the end of October.

Speaking at the reinstatement event, Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) Group Managing Director, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, emphasized the airline’s commitment to enhancing the onboard dining experience for all passengers.

He stated that Malaysia Airlines aims to strengthen its core proposition as a premium airline by providing more options, curated offerings, and variety.

Izham highlighted the importance of the transition in onboard catering, viewing it as a necessary step to improve offerings and service delivery while expanding capabilities, with a focus on customer satisfaction.

The transition involved the conclusion of Malaysia Airlines’ 26-year partnership with its former in-flight caterer, Brahim’s Food Services Sdn Bhd, on August 31.

In response, the national carrier implemented a catering business continuity plan (BCP), establishing the MAG Catering Operations (MCAT) as a temporary distribution center to manage the assembly of F&B items and meal delivery using hi-lift trucks.

MCAT, which strictly adheres to safety standards set by the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and local health authorities, currently operates with a fleet of 24 hi-lift trucks, six freezers, two chillers, and two ware wash machines.

Malaysia Airlines, in collaboration with its partners, is handling an average of 18,000 meals daily.

As part of the overall improvements, Malaysia Airlines introduced a menu refresh featuring delightful choices and destination-inspired dishes. The airline has also enhanced its service standards to continually improve the overall in-flight dining experience.
