Malaysia’s Construction Sector Achieved Fast Growth This Year

Malaysia’s construction sector recorded impressive growth this year with 9,144 projects successfully implemented until September, said Public Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.

He said the effort represented a huge investment amounting to RM63 billion for private initiatives and RM84 billion for government projects.

He said about 91 percent of the project was managed by local contractors, thus proving their expertise in shaping Malaysia’s infrastructure landscape.

“These statistics not only symbolize contracts but also embody progress, development, and unwavering promise for a brighter future and showcase the vibrancy of our construction industry.

“Today’s infrastructure investment paves the way for improved connectivity, better education, superior healthcare and a high quality of life for every Malaysian,” he said.

Nanta said this while officiating the International Construction Week (ICW) 2023 as well as the Malaysia International Building and Construction Industry Exhibition (BuildExpo Malaysia) at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Center (MITEC) today.

ICW, which entered its 22nd edition this year, lasted three days starting yesterday at MITEC, with the theme ‘Leading ESG in Construction’.
