The state government, in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, both parties are committed to achieving 100 percent 5G network coverage across Selangor by 2025, this was announced by the State executive councilor for innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah.

Currently, he said 5G network coverage in urban areas has reached 90 percent, while coverage in more rural districts like Hulu Selangor and Sabak Bernam is below 80 percent.

“Our goal for 2023 is 96.3 percent and to date, we have achieved 94.3 percent,” he said in a press conference at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly, here, today.

“Selangor will work closely with MCMC to guarantee 5G network coverage at 100 percent by 2025. This is in line with the Selangor government’s aim of becoming a smart state.”

The councilor reported that the 4G high-speed internet in Selangor will be upgraded to 100 megabits per second (Mbps) on average by 2025 compared to the current 47 Mbps.
