Former Chief Of Defence Forces Assumes Executive Chairman Role At G Capital

G Capital Bhd has appointed the former Chief of Defence Forces, General Tan Sri Affendi Buang, as its Executive Chairman with immediate effect.

The renewable energy (RE) solutions provider announced this move on Tuesday, emphasising that Affendi’s appointment is a strategic step in advancing sustainable energy initiatives.

With a distinguished career spanning over four decades in the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Affendi, 61, held significant roles as the country’s 18th Chief of Air Force and 21st Chief of Defence Force.

According to G Capital’s Executive Director, Datuk Yap Yee Ping, bringing Affendi on board will significantly fortify the team. Yap mentioned, “Tan Sri Affendi is armed with strong leadership and accountability in his distinguished military disciplines… that will spur G Capital’s growth positioning in the RE battlefield.”

Apart from his extensive military background, Affendi holds a Master of Arts in Strategic Studies from Deakin University.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the new role, Affendi stated, “My distinguished military career has provided me with an arsenal of skills and experiences that will prove invaluable in leading G Capital to new heights of success in the dynamic and competitive renewable energy sector.”

As of 2:54 pm on Tuesday, G Capital’s shares experienced a slight dip of half a sen or 1.28%, trading at 38.5 sen. This places the company’s valuation at RM125.21 million. Year-to-date, the stock has declined by 18%.
