MPRC To Unveil Pioneering OGSE Sustainability Framework By 2024

The Malaysia Petroleum Resources Corporation (MPRC) is set to unveil the national oil and gas services and equipment (OGSE) sustainability framework by the close of 2024.

This groundbreaking framework will offer comprehensive guidance on how OGSE companies can implement and report on their sustainability practices, marking the first initiative of its kind tailored to the specific needs of the OGSE industry.

During the National OGSE Sustainability Forum 2023, MPRC President and CEO, Mohd Yazid Ja’afar, expressed optimism about the impact of the national OGSE sustainability framework, anticipating that it will simplify and provide clarity for OGSE companies grappling with resource constraints in adopting and disclosing sustainability practices.

Ja’afar highlighted significant progress in achieving sustainability targets outlined in the OGSE blueprint. Out of the initial goal of 70 companies voluntarily reporting on sustainability practices by 2030, 81 of the nation’s top 100 OGSE companies have already done so. Additionally, one company, out of a target of five, has secured a spot in the Dow Jones sustainability index.

Looking forward, Ja’afar emphasised MPRC’s commitment to seeing more OGSE companies embrace sustainability practices, contributing to the positive momentum in the industry.

He underscored the importance of being future-ready in a decarbonised world, aligning MPRC’s dedication with the goals of the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR) and the National Energy Policy 2022-2040 framework.

The National OGSE Sustainability Forum 2023 was officially launched by the Deputy Secretary-General of the Economy Ministry, Datuk Yatimah Sarjiman.
