High Court Dismisses Maxis’ Judicial Review On RM211 Million Tax Assessment

The High Court has dismissed the judicial review by Maxis Broadband Sendirian Berhad a wholly owned subsidiary of Maxis Berhad for the assessment of RM211 million by the Inland Revenue Board.

This refers to the issuance of notices of additional assessment with penalties for the years of assessment 2016 and 2017 totaling RM140 million, a notice of additional assessment with the penalty for the year of assessment 2021 totaling RM71.7 million, and our announcements dated 20 November 2020 and 20 April 2023 respectively.

On 27 November 2023, the High Court dismissed the application to commence judicial review of the Notices. Maxis said it will appeal against the decision of the High Court and will file at the Court of Appeal along with an application for a stay of enforcement.
