An Enchanting Christmas & New Year’s At The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi

Fairytales and Christmas magic come alive throughout December, transforming The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi from a tropical hideaway to an enchanting retreat that is full of surprises for the whole family. 

The journey begins with wishes granted, as guests are invited to join the resort’s tree-lighting ceremony with the  children of the Langkawi Autism Center. Happening on 9 December at 6.30pm at the Activity Center, the Christmas  tree will be adorned with baubles handcrafted by the children, while drinks and light refreshments will be distributed  to celebrate the start of the season. 

The Nutcracker Cafe 

As guests make their way towards Langkawi Kitchen, the smell of hot cocoa, gingerbread, and baked delights will  welcome guests into The Nutcracker Cafe. Inspired by the classic Russian tale, The Library has been transformed into a cosy fantasyland, where Santa, Santarina and their elves will greet you, and where you can take a taste of The  Ritz-Carlton home, with chocolate Christmas creations, pastries and more for sale. 

The Ladies & Gentlemen have also prepared a number of activities to keep the little ones occupied, including  Christmas cookie decorating, gingerbread house decorating, a movie club, wheel of fortune and more. The  Nutcracker Café is open daily from 9.00am – 6.00pm, 10 December 2023 – 8 January 2024. 

Holiday Cheer at Horizon 

A celebration is not complete without the likes of champagne and roast turkey, and the team at Horizon invites guests  to pop a bottle of Baron de Rothschild Ritz Reserve (either Brut or Rose), for a bubbly year-end holiday. For a more  hands-on experience, Horizon’s mixologists will be holding a captivating Christmas Masterclass only on Christmas  Day where participants will walk away with three cocktails and a certificate, as proof of their new skill. 

For afternoon tea with a view of the Andaman Sea and a festive twist, the culinary team has prepared a special  Christmas-inspired mocktail and seasoned sweets and savories, such as a Christmas Mont Blanc, Cranberry Scones,  and Orange Flower Marmalade Crème Brulee among others.  

Champagne Celebrations is happening from 10 December 2023 – 8 January 2024. 

Christmas Cocktail Masterclass is happening on 25 December. 

Festive Afternoon Tea is available from 2.00pm to 5.00pm, 10 December – 31 December 2023.  

December Dining Decadence 

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a succulent roast turkey, complete with classic sides and lavish desserts such  as Christmas pudding and apple pie. Available at Langkawi Kitchen, The Beach Grill and Private Dining, the resort’s  Traditional Roast Turkey brings a time-honored recipes to our tropical setting. 

Guests seeking local flavors will experience an authentic taste of Malaysia while surrounded by the ancient rainforest  at Langkawi Kitchen, with the Discover Malaysia set, while The Beach Grill dishes out fresh seafood and international  treats with the Christmas Indulgence and their New Year’s Eve Dinner. Recline and dine with a view of the sea, while  the captivating vocals of Claire Rozells and the sound of the FuNKCoustics fill the air.  

The culinary maestros at Langkawi’s only modern Chinese restaurant Hai Yan have prepared a seven-course feast  that champions local ingredients, for an unforgettable Christmas and New Year’s Eve dinner.  

A Festive Indulgence 

As the year draws to a close, the resort’s award-winning The Ritz-Carlton Spa offers guests a chance to rest and re energize with two restorative treatments: Indulgent Treat and Renew & Rejuvenate.  

Indulgent Treat starts with a 45-minute chocolate body wrap, followed by a blissful 60-minute body massage, and  culminates with a 15-minute chocolate facemask. For a sweet ending, guests receive a mug of hot chocolate to enjoy  while gazing at the gentle waves of the Andaman Sea. 

Immerse yourself in an oasis of calm with Renew & Rejuvenate, as guests will enjoy 1 hour and 30 minutes of  tranquility, with their choice of one of the below treatments:

Bringing joy to Ritz Kids and NADY 

As families say hello to Santa in The Nutcracker Café, the little ones will meet Rudolph and friends at the resort’s  treehouse-inspired Ritz Kids and Eco-Discovery Center throughout December. Combining the four pillars of Ritz  Kids – Nature, Exploration, Responsibility and Culture – children can get hands-on with fun activities such as  Rudolph Face Painting, DIY Elves Bracelet, Reindeer Nature Collage, Marine Life Discovery and Santa Sand  Architecture. 

As we celebrate the season of giving, guests are invited to support the resort’s heartwarming collaboration with  Networking Action for Disabled Youths (NADY). Aimed to appreciate, support, and recognize the incredible talents  of Langkawi’s local youth during this festive season, guests can take home wonderful handmade items crafted by  these talented young artists, including batik frame paintings, toiletry bags, hand-painted t-shirts, tie-dye apparel,  canvas bags, and more. 

The NADY Charity Sale is happening 9.00am – 11.00am on 25 – 26 December at the Activity Center.  

Ring in 2024 with A Midsummer Night’s Dream 

For the first time since the resort’s opening, the spacious garden is transformed into a fairy wonderland, filled with  twinkling lights, mist, flowers and beautiful fairies. Moving away from the traditional New Year’s Eve celebration  often found in Langkawi, A Midsummer Night’s Dream sees guests transported from the hustle and bustle of the  world as they pass through the colorful lights and flowers that adorn the entrance to the garden.  

The wonder continues with awe-inspiring performances from aerialists, while a troupe of fairy dancers, DJ Xa and musicians fill the night with joy and music, before the clock strikes twelve and the sky is filled with fantastic  fireworks.  

Ensuring no guest goes hungry, there will be a variety of live cooking stations so that guests will have energy to  dance the night away. 

A Midsummer’s Night Dream is happening from 9.00pm – 1.00am on 31 December.
