MSM Malaysia a sugar refinery company said it has extended the garden leave of its Chief Financial Officer for another one months from 15 December 2023 to 15 January 2024 or it said till further notice from the Board.
Note that back on November 3 the group announced that its chief financial officer Dr Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar will be on garden leave with effect from Oct 20, 2023 until Dec 15, 2023 or until further notice from the board.
In a filing it said Mazatul ‘Aini Shahar’s temporary leave of absence is necessary to facilitate with an ongoing internal investigation.
Dr Mazatul ‘aini Shahar Abdul Malek Shahar was appointed in December 2022 and holds a Doctorate in Islamic Banking & International Economics from University Of East London (UEL), U.K.
Before joining MSM she was the Group Chief Financial Officer of Proton Holdings Berhad prior to the merger with Zhejiang Geely Group. Previously, she was the Chief Financial Officer for Nationwide Express Courier Services Berhad. She has 26 years of hands-on experience in Islamic banking & finance, fund-raising, transformation management, corporate finance and advisory works. She was with Aseambankers Malaysia Berhad, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad and Bank Muamalat Malaysia Berhad. She began her career with Arthur Anderson & Co in 1995 after graduating from the University of Nottingham, UK.
She is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of IJN Holdings Sdn Bhd. Previously, Dr. Aini was also an Independent Non-Executive Director at 7-Eleven Malaysia Holdings Berhad and TH Heavy Engineering Berhad and a member of Audit Committee for both companies.
