Harvest Capital Chairman, Tan Ooi Jin Exits Group

Harvest Capital a multi disciplinary company involved in IT to plantation has informed that its Chairman, Tan Ooi Jin is stepping down from post with immediate effect. He says he will pursuing other business.

Tan who is 48, was appointed as an independent Non-Executive Director of the Company on 22 September 2011 and subsequently re-designated as Independent Chairman on 23 September 2011. On 25 February 2016, he was re-designated as the Executive Chairman of the Company. He is a lawyer by qualification and holds a Second Class Honours LLB Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK and during his years of practice, he focused on the areas of Corporate & Securities and ICT. A former ASEAN scholar, he started his legal career in a medium-sized firm with an international affiliation focusing on Corporate & Securities and ICT.

During his tenure as a legal practitioner, he had advised on various corporate and commercial transactions especially cross border transactions and was involved in the listing of various companies in Malaysia as well as overseas including London, Hong Kong and Singapore and was constantly consulted to assist public-listed companies to recover and unlock their intrinsic value so as to enhance shareholders value. Due to this, he is familiar with the growth pattern of many industries and how to create or uncover value in these sectors.

His work in complex and international transactions resulted in him being recognised as a notable individual by a foreign independent legal publication in 3 different practice areas. Mr. Tan also advised the Technopreneurs Association of Malaysia (TeAM) and its members including its council members on legal issues and strategy. He was also part of a group of industry leaders which incorporated the National Incubators Network Association (NINA).

Previously, he was an Independent Non-Executive Director of a global apparel company listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand and also on the Board of a company which was part of a NASDAQ-listed group prior to a global merger exercise.

He is currently an Executive Director of Ingenieur Gudang Berhad (formerly known as Dynaciate Group Berhad).
