Perodua Assessing Impact On Daihatsu Recall Order

Perodua which is an OEM for Daihatsu Motor Co., Ltd.’s has responded on the suspension order issued by Toyota Japan its models due to its “procedural irregularities”, the local assembler is currently waiting for more information the impact the recall can cause.

In a statement, the Myvi carmaker said the third-party committee report by Daihatsu confirmed that all 174 irregularities pointed out by the third-party committee satisfied the standards set by laws and regulations”.

Perodua said it is doing a detailed assessment on the matter and are currently in discussion with Malaysian authorities as to the impact of this development to local vehicles.

As background, on 28th April 2023, DMC announced of “procedural irregularities” when conducting safety tests on vehicles in Japan. Following that announcement, DMC has established a third-party investigative committee consisting of lawyers and technical personnel.

Parent company Toyota has ordered the suspension of all export for the vehicles which can further impact sales of Perodua.
