City Council Gives Approval To Demolish Stadium Shah Alam

The Shah Alam City Council has given the go ahead for the demolition of the iconic Shah Alam Stadium which has towered the skyline o f the city for 3 decades.

The demolition will pave way for the construction of the new Shah Alam Sports Complex which the state said will be expected to be carried out soon.

Chief Minister Dato Amiruddin Shari said “Just received the approval from MBSA yesterday (Friday),” he said.

The Selangor government was previously reported to have submitted a planning permission for the KSSA project on November 15, which involves the demolition of the Shah Alam Stadium with a cost of RM35.5 million.

It is reported the new KSSA project, which covers an area of 76.08 hectares, is expected to be completed by 2026.

However there has been questions on the cost for the new stadium who some say is too high, while certain quarters argue the cost of repairing the old stadium would have been much more effective way of spending tax payers funds.
