Bursa Announces CNY Break With Full Day Trading On The Eve

Bursa Malaysia Berhad has announced that it will reinstate full day trading on the eve of Chinese New Year, which will fall this year on 9 February 2024.

The move the Exchange said was made made following industry consultation, is to enhance investor access to the market ahead of the festive period.

As such, the trading hours in conjunction with Chinese New Year 2024 will be full day trading on 9 February 2024 (Friday). Both securities and derivatives markets will be opened under normal trading hours on 9 February 2024. Nevertheless, in accordance with Bursa Malaysia Derivatives’ Procedure, there will be no T+1 night trading session on 9 February 2024.
Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries will be opened per normal business hours.

Instead Bursa Malaysia and its subsidiaries will be closed on 12 February 2024 in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2024 national public holiday and resume operations on 13 February 2024 (Tuesday).

Similarly, Bursa Malaysia will also be opened for full day trading on the eve of the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri holidays, which will again be announced in April 2024.
