PKPS Generated RM50 Million From It’s Ehsan Agro Sales

Selangor state’s initiative to offer basic goods at affordable prices through the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah has garnered nearly RM50 million in sales across over 3,000 locations last year.

Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi said the figure included the RM18.1 million in subsidy provided by the state government.

“The main objective of the affordable sales programme is to assist the public, particularly the low-income group, by offering basic goods that are up to 30 per cent cheaper than the market price.

“We will continue with the programme this year, including organising mega sales during festive seasons,” he said when contacted.

Over the last two years, JER has been offering a selection of items to visitors, including standard chicken at RM10 per pack, fresh solid beef (RM10 per pack), Grade B eggs (RM10 per tray), mackerel (RM6 per pack), 5kg cooking oil (RM25), and 5kg rice (RM13).

In addition to organising affordable sales in selected locations every day except Fridays and public holidays, PKPS has signed a memorandum of understanding with Segi Fresh to ensure better accessibility to local residents.

The supermarket was appointed as a strategic partner to implement the JER programme, including providing sales locations and logistics across 55 premises.

PKPS has also received recognition from the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) for the biggest sale of subsidised chicken and eggs within the span of two days, in conjunction with the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration last year.

The state agency was also accorded the 2023 Quality Management Award during the organisation of the United Nations Climate Change Conference in December last year for its exceptional achievements, notably in the management of JER.
