British Airways Resumes KL-London Flight After 4 Year Hiatus

British Airways has confirmed that it will resume flights from Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok to London as part of its global route network, following a four-year hiatus.

From November 10 , the UK airline will re-start flights between the Malaysian capital and London, with a daily service operating into London Heathrow. From October 29, British Airways will launch three weekly flights from Bangkok to London, with a Winter service operating into London Gatwick. A four-class 787 Dreamliner will fly between Kuala Lumpur and Heathrow, while a 777-200 will serve the Bangkok route.

The airline said the resumption of both services is part of its commitment to re-building its network to Asia. The airline continues to see demand for travel recover, flying 90% of its 2019 capacity last year, with 2023 the busiest year since the pandemic. More than 43 million customers travelled on flights to more than 200 destinations across its global network.

Neil Chernoff, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer said: “With leisure travel continuing to perform very well, especially in our premium cabins, we’re excited two of our most popular Asian routes are firmly back on our route map. We are on a journey to a better BA for our people and for our customers, underpinned by the largest transformation programme in our history, that will see us invest £7bn over the next two years as we revolutionise our business.”

The airline is currently working hard to deliver its biggest ever investment programme, which includes more than 600+ modernisation initiatives, the launch of a new website and mobile app, and the roll out of customer benefits ranging from free onboard messaging, new short-haul seats and a new first class suite.
