Saikris TechDairies Sets Up Malaysia’s First High-Tech Robotic Dairy In Asia

Innovative dairy enterprise SaiKris TechDairies is set to propel Malaysia to the forefront of dairy farming technology with the establishment of the region’s first high-tech robotic dairy farm by the end of this year.

This groundbreaking initiative will not only position Malaysia as the regional hub for cutting-edge dairy farming but will also help propel the nation to become a leader in sustainable dairy farming practices.

Addressing Malaysia’s Dairy Dilemma

Malaysia currently grapples with a significant gap between domestic production and consumption of dairy products. The nation imports over RM5 billion worth of dairy products annually, resulting in a Self-Sufficiency Level (SSL) of only 3.04 percent.

Fragmentation within the industry, skill shortages, and limited support hinder progress towards self-sufficiency. Inspired by the success stories of Vietnam and Thailand, which boast SSLs exceeding 70 percent, SaiKris TechDairies aims to replicate this success and bolster Malaysia’s food security.

Their project aligns with the government’s goal of reducing reliance on foreign imports and fostering sustainable agricultural practices.

A Technological Leap: Pioneering Sustainable Self-Sufficiency Dairy Production

The 65-acre high-tech dairy farm in Gua Tempurung, Perak, will house 1,000 cows milked by precision robots.

This shift towards automation will ensure hygienic milk production and contribute to a more sustainable dairy ecosystem. Driven by a commitment to reducing reliance on imported dairy products and providing Malaysians with consistent access to fresh, locally-produced milk and dairy-products, SaiKris TechDairies embarked on this transformative venture.

Collaboration for Sustainable Growth:

SaiKris Founder and Managing Director, Nash Viknesh, emphasises the company’s mission to break the glass ceiling of the Asian dairy industry by introducing Robotics and IoT. In collaboration with a Koperasi SaiKris, SaiKris TechDairies plans to launch a joint venture to build and operate the dairy farm.

Seeking to raise funds from its members, Koperasi SaiKris aims to actively participate in safeguarding this long-term investment.

“SaiKris TechDairies adopts a phased approach with a total investment amounting to RM66 million. Phase 1 will commence with 250 cows, scaling up to 750 cows in Phase 2. This project comes after five years of extensive research and development, with an investment exceeding RM8 million,” Nash said in a statement.

He mentioned that the land in Perak has been cleared, and pre-construction plans have been finalised.

Nash (pic) also stated that the company has secured a long-term agreement with a multinational corporation, ensuring a stable market for its fresh milk.

The project benefits from extensive pre-planning and collaboration with established industry players. The land, in Perak, is cleared, with pre-construction plans finalised, and GEA Germany, a leading provider of robotic and automated machinery with a proven track record in Europe and North America, will equip the farm.

Additionally, a dedicated local GEA presence ensures ongoing support for SaiKris.

Ensuring Quality

SaiKris has secured a long-term agreement with a multinational corporation, guaranteeing a stable market for its fresh milk. The company adheres to strict European standards to ensure the highest quality and hygiene of its dairy products, positioning itself as the preferred choice for Malaysian consumers.

A Phased Approach for Long-Term Success

SaiKris TechDairies’ initiative aligns with the Malaysian government’s food security goals and signifies a crucial step towards self-reliance. The success of this project has the potential to reshape Malaysia’s dairy landscape and establish the nation as a leader in technological advancements within the industry.

SaiKris TechDairies is open to more participation from private and public sector investors supporting such innovative ventures, paving the way for a new era of sustainability and technological prowess in Malaysia’s dairy sector.
