Malaysia Targets 35.6 Million Tourist With RM147.1 Billion Revenue For VMY2026

Malaysia is targeting a total of 35.6 million tourists with a potential a tourism income of RM147.1 billion in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia (VM) 2026 campaign.

The deputy minister of tourism, arts and culture said that in order to achieve that target, the Ministry will strengthen the branding of Malaysia Truly Asia and Malaysian Holidays in line with the objectives and strategies of the National Tourism Policy 2020-2030 and the Strategic and Marketing Plan 2022-2026. “In addition, focus is given to the main markets that contribute to the number of foreign tourist arrivals such as ASEAN countries, West Asia, South Asia and East Asia for a quick return on investment.

The Deputy Minister said the visa-free facilities provided by the government to attract more foreign tourists, especially from the Chinese and Indian markets, will also be fully utlisied. He has also asked the State Government and local authorities to upgrade and maintain facilities in their respective tourist hotspots.
