Bernas To Implement Nationwide Price Reduction For Imported White Rice

Bernas said it has begun implementing a price adjustment for Imported White Rice at BERNAS warehouse gates in Peninsular Malaysia, reducing it from RM3,200 to RM3,000 per metric ton starting today. This ensures a reduction in retail prices of Imported White Rice by RM2 to RM3 per 10 kilogram bag.

The national rice importer said it is committed to ensuring product availability despite the ongoing trend of Imported White Rice prices remaining at their highest levels in the past 15 years. Bernas is making sure there is sufficient and stable rice supply for households nationwide, while also commending the government’s intervention measures to enhance the distribution of local white rice.

The group said remains dedicated in supporting the nation’s food security agenda by collaborating closely with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and industry partners. The company reiterates its commitment to the ministry’s long-term action plan, prioritising the welfare of farmers and maintaining a sustainable rice supply chain within the country.

BERNAS manages the national stockpile and operates as the final purchaser of rice from farmers.
