PADU Registration Reaches 9.8 Million

The final push for the national centralised database hub by the Unity Government PADU, has reached 9.8 million as of 29 March with just 2 days left before registration closes.

The Department of Statistics which manages all aspects of PADU had previously said the it was optimistic of hitting 50% of the adult population in the country of 10 million. Economic Minister who devised the whole concept of using a centralised database to ensure more efficient way of dispersing aid to targeted group, said the deadline will not be extended 31 March however did say the system will be made accessible every 2-3 months for updating.

On the recent report about its vulnerability, DOSM has come out strongly defending the security aspect PADU, it said the development was conducted in-house and has successfully taken into account the stated requirements with the latest technology, methods and design at the core of the development. This is based on top expertise and thoroughness. The use of API is one of the important mechanisms and will continue to be increased based on the dynamics, complexity and availability of databases from various agencies.

Meanwhile, PADU is not only used as a data updating medium, rather it performs various analytical functions and goes beyond the scope of transactions and data updates. Accordingly, PADU is safe and effective it added.
