Approved STR Applicants May Update Their Basic Details From 8 April

Applicants who are entitled and have been approved for the STR or the Rahmah Cash Contribution by the Government may update their basic information starting today until 28 April.

The notice posted on the Inland Revenue Board Facebook page stated the system will only accommodate basic information updates like, home and mobile phone number, email and home address for mailing, bank account details, partners phone number and details of next of kin.

The government announced the STR payments for Phase Two to 8.4 million recipients will begin on April 3. It will involve payments ranging from RM100 to RM650.

The Finance Ministry (MOF) said existing and new recipients registered in the STR database will receive payment through their bank accounts or cash at Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) branches in stages, based on their eligible categories.

Starting this year, the government has adopted a new approach to open registration for STR throughout the year to allow more people to benefit from government aid.

“Therefore, the number of eligible recipients is expected to increase this year, taking into account the ongoing new applications and information updates compared to once a year previously,” MOF said.

The government has also increased the allocation for the targeted subsidy programme under STR Phase Two by 20 per cent, amounting to RM1.5 billion, compared to RM1.26 billion last year,
