Foreign Affairs Ministry On Standby Over Iran Situation

Foreign Affairs Ministry issued a statement saying it is on standby looking out for the safety of Malaysians in Iran after the country launched a series of missile and drone attack over Israel.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof has informed Wisma Putra to be on high alert and be on standby if the repatriation of Malaysians is necessary in any conflict zones. Fadillah has also advised Malaysians from refraining traveling to Iran at this moment, as there could be a possible retaliation by Israel at any moment.

There are no known Malaysian entities with full scale business in Iran, Petronas the largest oil company in the region has operations in Iraq but its uncertain if there are any physical dealings in Iran. The company however did sign an MOU with National Iranian Oil Company in 2016, to collaborate in a field study in South Azadegan and Cheshmeh Khosh.

There are no further updates on the outcome nor if any dealings were established since.
