Microsoft To Invest RM10.5 Billion In Malaysia’s AI And Cloud Infrastructure

During a whirlwind tour of Southeast Asia, Microsoft has announced to invest RM10.5 billion (USD2.2 billion) in cloud and AI infrastructure over the next 4 years. The announcement comes as Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, during the AI National Leadership Forum in Putrajaya today, which was also graced by the Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Ministry of International Trade and Investment said the latest announcement by Microsoft is set to transform Malaysia into a leading digital hub regionally, while targeting to skill 300,000 Malaysians, as well as powering up the nation’s economic growth and inclusivity through innovative, cutting-edge technology.

This investment looks set to support the country’s national initiative to embrace new, enabling technology, including AI and
Generative AI, which could unlock USD113.4 billion in productive capacity in Malaysia.

Satya Nadella said, “We are committed to supporting Malaysia’s AI transformation and ensure it benefits all Malaysians. Our investments in digital infrastructure and skilling will help Malaysian businesses, communities, and developers apply the latest technology to drive inclusive economic growth and innovation across the country.”
