Rapid KL Closes 4 Monorail Stations After Mishap In City Centre

Four monorail stations have been temporarily closed for cleaning and repair work after a fallen tree incident near the Bukit Nanas Monorail Station yesterday. Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd (Rapid Rail) has released a statement informing that an alternative service will be implemented to ensure the continuity of passenger journeys starting at 6 am this morning.

According to the statement, the four stations that are closed to the public are Bukit Nanas Monorail Station, Raja Chulan Monorail Station, Bukit Bintang Monorail Station, and Imbi Monorail Station. The power supply on the track needs to be shut down to make way for cleaning and maintenance work.

Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd (Rapid Bus) will be provide as a free intermediate bus service between the affected stations to support the alternative service and enable passengers to continue their journey. Rapid Rail also advised affected passengers to use other train services as an alternative.

Rapid Rail said it is actively carrying out detailed cleaning and overhaul work with the help of Kuala Lumpur City Hall. Operations and structural engineers are conducting detailed inspections to ensure full operations can be carried out in accordance with safety standards and set standards. Any updates will be communicated periodically through Rapid KL’s social media channels and the PULSE application.

Rapid Rail said it apologises for the unexpected disruption and will ensure full operations are resumed as soon as possible. The 2 pm incident saw one man die and two others injured after a fallen tree hit 17 vehicles and the monorail track due to heavy rain and strong winds in Jalan Sultan Ismail.
