Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim extended his congratulations on the appointment of Lawrence Wong as the new Prime Minister of Singapore and invited his counterpart to visit Malaysia as soon as possible.
In a Facebook post last night, Anwar conveyed his congratulations through a phone call to Wong.
“We are committed to working closely together and continuing discussions on matters of mutual interest,” the post stated.
Wong, 51, was sworn in as Singapore’s fourth Prime Minister at the Istana on May 15, replacing Lee Hsien Loong, 72, who had led the country for nearly 20 years.
In the same post, Anwar mentioned that Wong also congratulated him on his recent victory in the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election.
