Sports Toto PAT Triples In Q3 As Payouts Reduced

Sports Toto Berhad reported RM1.69 billion revenue in the third quarter this year, registering a climb of 2.4% over the revenue of RM1.66 billion in the previous year’s corresponding quarter. The Group also registered RM101.2 million pre-tax profit, a commendable improvement of 153.4% from the pre-tax profit of RM40 million in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. PAT was at RM68 million as compared to RM23 million in the previous year’s quarter.

The improved results for the current quarter ended 31 March 2024 was mainly due to the performance of STM Lottery Sdn Bhd (“STM Lottery”) and H.R. Owen Plc (“H.R. Owen”).

STM Lottery’s current quarter revenue was higher by 7.5% as it had higher sales per draw coupled with an additional draw conducted in the current quarter under review (42 draws versus 41 draws). Comparing to previous year’s corresponding quarter, STM Lottery’s pre-tax profit rose by 246.0%, driven by the higher revenue achieved during the current quarter. Additionally, the higher pre-tax profit recorded in the current quarter under review was due to lower prize payout.

H.R. Owen’s current quarter revenue dropped 8.0% when compared to the previous year’s corresponding quarter mainly attributed to lower used car sales. However, this was partially mitigated by higher aftersales revenue in the current quarter, reflecting a return to normalcy

For the 9-month period ended 31 March 2024
In the current 9-month period ended 31 March 2024, SPToto reported a revenue of RM4.66 billion, representing an increase of 3.9% over the revenue of RM4.48 billion reported in the previous year’s corresponding period, mainly driven by the stronger revenue contribution from both STM Lottery and H.R. Owen. However, the pre-tax profit saw a drop of 1.2% to RM239.1 million from RM242.1 million, which was mainly due to the lower results reported by H.R. Owen but mitigated by improved performance from STM Lottery.

The Board has declared a third interim dividend of 3.0 sen per share, amounting to approximately RM40.5 million in respect of the financial year ending 30 June 2024. The dividend is payable on 19 July 2024 and the entitlement date is fixed on 28 June 2024.
