The Malaysia Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MYCentre4IR) has announced the launch of the Malaysia Centre4IR ESG Innovation Challenge. This new initiative, developed in collaboration with Bursa Malaysia and powered by the World Economic Forum’s UpLink platform, is calling on startups and entrepreneurs worldwide to present their innovative digital solutions aimed at advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) efforts for five Malaysian Public Listed Companies (PLCs).
The participating PLCs are CJ Century Logistics Holdings Berhad, Globetronics Technology Berhad, Malayan Banking Berhad, REDtone Digital Berhad, and Sunway Innovation Labs (representing Sunway Group). This challenge seeks to connect innovative minds with these companies across various sectors, including agriculture, construction, financial services, logistics, and manufacturing.
Empowering Change Through Innovation
The Innovation Challenge aims to uncover cutting-edge solutions that address key industry challenges, potentially enhancing business competitiveness while contributing positively to the environment. The strategic collaboration with Bursa Malaysia, one of Southeast Asia’s largest stock exchanges, and the global reach provided by UpLink, ensures a broad spectrum of high-calibre submissions.
Aligned with Bursa Malaysia’s Public Listed Companies Transformation Programme, the challenge supports Pillars 2, 4, and 5, which focus on sustainability, digital enablement, and corporate venture capital. This initiative not only fosters the growth of startups but also aids PLCs in enhancing their sustainability practices.
Focus Areas and Application Process
The Innovation Challenge targets several key areas:
- CJ Century Logistics Holdings Berhad: Data collection for fleet management, predictive modelling for sustainability.
- Globetronics Technology Berhad: Enhancing manufacturing efficiency with AI-assisted virtual production assistants.
- Malayan Banking Berhad: Climate resilience opportunities and waste management solutions for SMEs.
- REDtone Digital Berhad: IoT and AI solutions for smarter agriculture.
- Sunway Innovation Labs: Preventative health, well-being, and circular economy innovations.
Applications are now open through UpLink and will close on 31 August 2024. A panel of experts from MYCentre4IR, Bursa Malaysia, and the World Economic Forum will review submissions. The Innovation Challenge will culminate in a Demo Day at Bursa Malaysia on 7 November 2024, where the top five ideas will be awarded pilot project funding and gain access to a network of industry leaders and investors.
