Bursa Malaysia started the trading day on a positive note, but by midday, the market experienced a downturn, erasing its earlier gains.
The FBM KLCI slipped by 1.61 points, or 0.1%, to 1,676.58 after reaching an intra-morning high of 1,684.06.
A total of 479 stocks declined, 429 advanced, and 494 remained unchanged, with 1.78 billion shares valued at RM1.4 billion changing hands.
