Road Transport Dept Malaysia (JPJ) is offering a special compound of RM150 for three types of traffic offences over a six-month period starting tomorrow, said Transport Minister Anthony Loke. The offences include those issued under the Automated Awareness Safety System (AwAS) (Saman 53A), Investigation Notice (114), and the JPJ Summon Notice (115). “Normally, the compound for these offences is RM300. However, we are offering a reduced rate of RM150 starting tomorrow, Jan 3, for six months to encourage the settlement of outstanding fines,” he explained.
Loke highlighted that there are currently two million unpaid AwAS summons, and noted that individuals who fail to settle these fines would face restrictions. “If they do not settle the AwAS fines, they will not be able to renew their driving licences or motor vehicle licences,” he added.
The special compound can be settled through various channels, including JPJ counters, the public portal, JPJ kiosks, JPJ mobile counters, and the myJPJ app. However, payments cannot be made via MyEG or Pos Malaysia.
Additionally, Loke announced that the collection of demerit points will be temporarily suspended from tomorrow until 30 June. During this period, the JPJ Enforcement Division will review the implementation of the Demerit Point System.
