Maxis, Malaysia’s leading integrated telco, has introduced its Maxis Mobile Identity solution, designed to enhance security and simplify authentication for mobile users. The solution leverages advanced telco verification APIs, starting with the Number Verify API, which ensures real-time authentication of phone numbers without relying on traditional SMS-based OTPs or TACs.
Unveiled at the Smart Nation Expo 2024 in the presence of Minister of Digital, Gobind Singh Deo, the solution offers a seamless user experience while reducing exposure to fraud and scams. It is particularly beneficial for financial institutions, e-commerce platforms, and application developers aiming to provide secure digital interactions.
Prateek Pashine, Chief Enterprise Business Officer of Maxis, stated, “With this solution, we are not only simplifying the process for users but also safeguarding them against fraud and scams. The adoption of API-based solutions will unlock greater possibilities for businesses and industries to deliver seamless and secure digital interactions.”
Maxis is collaborating with Singtel for regional federation of telco APIs through the Bridge Alliance API Exchange (BAEx) initiative, endorsed by 13 major telcos across Asia. The solution aligns with the GSMA Open Gateway framework, ensuring interoperability and swift deployment across countries and networks.
