Indonesian singer-songwriter Melly Goeslaw is set to stage her highly anticipated new concert, ‘Prom Nite’, at the Axiata Arena in Bukit Jalil on May 31. Known for her unique fashion sense, Melly, whose full name is Meliana Cessy Goeslaw, has already made history with her previous concerts in Malaysia, ‘Ada Apa Dengan Melly (Back To School)’ in February 2023 and ‘Ada Apa Dengan Melly & Friends (Malam Graduasi)’ in June 2024.
For her upcoming ‘Prom Nite’ concert, organised by Icon Entertainment, Melly promises something new and extraordinary, revealing that fans can expect surprises that have never been seen before in Malaysia or Indonesia. “This surprise has never happened before, either in Malaysia or Indonesia, and we are trying not to disappoint the fans. There will be gimmicks, something for the audience – it’s going to be ‘keren banget’,” she said during the press conference for the event.
In addition to the exciting performances, Melly has also announced that the concert will feature the selection of a Prom King and Queen. “It will definitely be a very lively night of dancing,” she added, promising an unforgettable experience for the audience.
As for her preparations, the 51-year-old singer, known for hits such as ‘Ku Bahagia’ and ‘Ketika Cinta Bertasbih’, shared that she is aiming to lose three kilograms to stay agile for the energetic concert. “The theme is a party, so there will be plenty of songs to jump around to. I need to lose weight to dance more easily with the fans,” she explained.
Melly will once again collaborate with renowned fashion designer Ezuwan Ismail for her concert wardrobe.
Icon Entertainment founder Iman Tang also spoke about the theme continuity of the concert series. “After ‘Back to School’ and ‘Graduation Night’, the next theme is ‘Prom Nite’, which is the final night of school. This time, the theme won’t be school uniforms; attendees can wear whatever they like,” Iman said. “Consider this ‘Prom Nite’ as a reunion with friends who were part of the previous two phases.”
