NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, has announced the international launch of its next-generation Smart AI Agent. The tool is a key part of the company’s strategy to accelerate the adoption of Generative AI, aiming to generate US$2 billion in revenue from Smart AI Agent-related business by 2027.
The Smart AI Agent autonomously extracts, organizes, and executes tasks in response to user instructions, complementing existing workforces and streamlining time-consuming processes. It enhances efficiency across industries, enabling businesses to rapidly evaluate and deploy Generative AI applications, optimising workflows and driving productivity.

The Smart AI Agent is already making an impact in key sectors, enhancing DevOps data analysis in the automotive industry, improving regulatory reporting processes in banking, and optimising marketing cycles for a major gas manufacturer.
Key capabilities of the Smart AI Agent at launch include:
- Task Planning: Automating complex workflows by autonomously dividing tasks into streamlined processes.
- Multi-Agent Collaboration: Enabling multiple AI agents to work together on workflows for improved efficiency.
- Advanced Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG): Providing contextual searches of internal corporate data for higher quality results.
- Agent Ops: Generating validation data from business documents to optimise operational processes.
- User-in-the-Loop (UITL): Coming in March 2025, UITL will continuously improve agent workflows based on user feedback.
NTT DATA’s Smart AI Agent solution includes consulting, implementation, and ongoing support for seamless integration across businesses. The company offers both public and private cloud solutions, catering to security-conscious companies.
The rollout of the Smart AI Agent will first begin in the US, China, and several European countries, with broader global availability planned.
