Remote Work Proposal For ASEAN Summits To Be Raised In Cabinet

The proposal to implement work-from-home arrangements and online learning (PdPR) during the upcoming ASEAN Summits in May and October will be brought to the Cabinet, said Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan.

“This suggestion arose due to the difficulties and constraints faced by the public, particularly in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, who were affected by road closures during the state visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Malaysia,” he said.

“I would like to propose to the Cabinet that relevant departments work from home, and schools conduct PdPR to reduce congestion and inconvenience faced by the public, especially in the Klang Valley and Kuala Lumpur. So, I would also like to apologise to all who were affected by the road closures during Xi’s visit,” he told Bernama and RTM at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Earlier, Mohamad and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim were present at KLIA to bid farewell to Xi and his delegation as they departed for Cambodia, concluding a three-day state visit to Malaysia.

Several roads in the Klang Valley and Putrajaya were either fully closed or redirected in stages from 15 to 17 April to accommodate the official movement of Xi’s delegation.

Although the closures were pre-announced and intended to facilitate logistics and security, many road users expressed frustration over the heavy traffic they encountered.
